Georgia submits all legal documents necessary for Megis Kardava’s extradition to Ukraine According to the internal legislation of Ukraine, extradition proceedings may last up to 1 year, - said prosecutor Natia Songulashvili on Imedi TV.

According to her, the Georgian side is waiting for the decision of the competent court of Ukraine to bring Megis Kardava before the Georgian judiciary in the shortest possible time.

"The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia collected and submitted all legal documents necessary for the positive decision on extradition to the relevant authorities of Ukraine. We are waiting for the final decision on the extradition," said Natia Songulashvili on Imedi TV.

Megis Kardava was declared wanted by Interpol in 2013.

Megis Kardava, former senior defense ministry official, was detained in Ukraine on November 1. In case of extradition, he faces 9 years of imprisonment.
