We do not rule out visa-free travel with Georgia but it is difficult yet – Russian Deputy FM
14:10 31-10-2017
We do not rule out visa-free travel with Georgia but it is difficult yet – Russian Deputy FM Russia does not rule out imposing visa-free travel with Georgia in the future, - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigori Karasin has told the Izvestia newspaper in an interview.

‘In future prospects, we do not rule out imposing visa-free travel with Georgia on the basis of mutual desire but it is difficult yet. Suspension of diplomatic relations represents an obstacle for it. As far as you know, Tbilisi was the initiator to stop diplomatic relations with Russia,’ Karasin has said.

According to him, terror threats and illegal migration need to be considered when discussing such issues.

As Karasin has specified, the Russian side provided Georgia with particular offers concerning visa-free travel for flight crew members.

‘I would like to remark that in 2016 the number of visas issued by our interests section was double in 2016 in Tbilisi, reaching 40 000. The number will further increase this year,’ Karasin has remarked.
