There cannot be any customs checkpoint at the occupation line, as the Georgian-Russian border is on the Caucasus Ridge - Ketevan Tsikhelashvili

There cannot be any customs checkpoint at the occupation line, as the Georgian-Russian border is on the Caucasus Ridge - Ketevan Tsikhelashvili There cannot be any customs checkpoint at the occupation line, as the Georgian-Russian border is on the Caucasus Ridge, - State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili said in response to the so called South Ossetian de facto authorities’ decision to open the so-called customs checkpoint near Aklhalgori.

According to her, the abovementioned is illegitimate both from political and legal points of view.

"There will not be any customs checkpoint at the occupation line, as there is no border. The border with Russia is on the Caucasus Ridge. This is illegitimate both from political and legal points of view. As for the restrictions, even today, there are a lot of restrictions, as a result of which, it is difficult for the population to move. Trade is also very small, whereas it is vitally important for not only Georgians, but for Ossetians as well, who live in the Tskhinvali region isolated with barbed wire. Of course, it is very important for us to promote and not to limit the movement of people and transfer of goods,"- said Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
