Georgian Ambassador to Greece: Crimes related with Georgian citizens remain main problem in Georgia-Greece relationship

Georgian Ambassador to Greece: Crimes related with Georgian citizens remain main problem in Georgia-Greece relationship Crimes related with Georgian citizens remain the main problem in Georgia-Greece relationships, - Ioseb Nanobashvili, Georgia’s Special and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Greek and Serbian Republics has posted at his Facebook page.

He has responded to recent detentions of Georgian citizens by Greek law enforcers.

‘I would like to remark first that currently, crimes related with Georgian citizens remain the main problem in Georgia-Greece relationships. I think it is even not necessary to explain that this problem harms our country and its image as well as embassy’s activity very seriously. Similar facts act as significant obstacles in terms of holding negotiations with the Greek government regarding the issues that are important for our country. Such cases also create a very negative background and mood in the Greek people towards Georgians,’ the address reads.

According to Nanobashvili despite the reality the embassy has been conducting a permanent dialogue over the two issues.

‘First – we demand the rights of Georgian citizens to be protected despite the serious crimes they are accused of. Second – we demand no false or vague information to be reported on our compatriots that are charged for this or that crimes,’ the Ambassador says.
