Russian and Georgian churches might establish joint working team to regulate situation in breakaway Abkhazia Russian and Georgian churches might establish a joint working team in order to regulate situation in terms of religious issues in Abkhazia, - it was stressed at yesterday’s meeting at the Patriarchate of Georgia.

Georgia’s Patriarch Ilia II hosted Head of Russian Church Foreign Affairs Department, Ilarion (Alfeev). He paid a one-day visit to Tbilisi in order to hand over the invitation by Russian Patriarch to Ilia II.

Russia’s Patriarch Kiril invited Ilia II to attend the 100th anniversary since restoration of independence of Russian Orthodox Church.

The parties have discussed the developments in Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia. According to Georgia’s Patriarch he hopes the situation in Abkhazia to be regulated shortly.

In turn, the visitor clergyman remarked it is necessary to establish a working team to discuss the situation in Abkhazia.
