The workshop on “Integration of Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health into planning and management of crisis and post-crisis situations” was conducted with the support of " UNFPA/Georgia Office and the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of GeorgiaOn 14-16 July, at Hotel Bazaleti Lake UNFPA Georgia Country office in close cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia conducted a workshop on “Integration of Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health into planning and management of crisis and post-crisis situations” . The aim of this workshop was to equip participants with required information and knowledge and to facilitate the development of Action Plan for the integration of these issues into planning and management of crisis and post-crisis situations at the national level.
The workshop was attended by the representatives of the Department of Emergency Situations Coordination and Regime at the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Regional Coordination Centers of the Social Service Agency, Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the management of private hospital sector, Georgian Red Cross Society and the UN Agencies-UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, WHO.
The participants elaborated on the first draft of the Action Plan for the integration of Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health into planning and management of crisis and post-crisis situations at the national level, defined the priorities and elaborated the recommendations. This document will be submitted to the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs for its integration into the National Action Plan on crisis management.
Georgia has been chosen by UNFPA as one of the pilot countries for integration of Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Reproductive Health into planning and management of crisis and post-crisis situations. In this regard, in May 2011 UNFPA supported the training of Georgian experts, government and NGO representatives, as well as UNFPA staff involved in the crisis management in the country.
