If it is the best mechanism the President to be authorized to nominate Supreme Court judicial candidates, it will be a great responsibility, - President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said responding to the question of the InterPressNews reporter, who asked whether it was a mistake or not when the President was deprived of the right to submit the candidates for the Supreme Court judges and whether the return of the mechanism to the President would improve the process.
“If this is the best mechanism, it will be a big responsibility. Today, the president cannot say that there are some shortcomings in the Constitution of Georgia that should be corrected. If there are any shortcomings in the constitution, those people, who are discussing it, are authorized to speak about it. I am no longer a lawmaker who should discuss the constitution. If lawmakers or the society consider something as shortcoming, it is up to them to decide. I will obey the decision that is made in this regard,” President Zurabishvili said.
