Flu death toll reaches 18 in Georgia

According to the latest data, the number of laboratory confirmed cases of death caused by flu has reached 18 in Georgia.

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, the latest case of death occurred in the city of Zugdidi.

“A sad case occurred, 41-year-old men died in Zugdidi. We have information that unfortunately, he was admitted to the hospital late – on 6th day after the start of the flu. He had another chronic disease as well, but I cannot specifically talk about it," Amiran Gamkrelidze said.

According to the latest data, the majority of flu cases - 253 per 100,000 people - is H1N1 or so-called swine flu.
