Mamuka Bakhtadze: Privatization" of the topic of judges by certain political groups is unacceptable

I am convinced that none of us wants to live in a country where the Prime Minister or other official calls to the court and settles cases according to their will, - Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said in response to a question relating to judges.

The Prime Minister declared that “privatization" of the topic of judges by certain political groups was unacceptable to him.

"As for our court, it is unacceptable to me that this topic is “privatized” by certain political groups. This is a subject of common concern.

Our political team declared that this is our steady position that we must work out criteria and procedures for the selection of judges. It is also an objective circumstance that, unfortunately, the decrease in the number of judges often leads to delayed review of cases.

The Government of Georgia will never interfere with the activity of the independent branch. This time is over in Georgia and I am convinced that none of us wants to live in a country where the Prime Minister or other official calls to the court and settles cases according to his will," Bakhtadze said.
