Ross Wilson says United States supports the Anaklia project

We are following these developments with attention because of its potential implications for Anaklia and also because the bank enjoys American ownership, Ross Wilson, chargé d'affaires at the US Embassy to Georgia, said when commenting on the developments relating to TBC Bank founder Mamuka Khazaradze.

“I think that the main thing I can say right now is that the United States supports the Anaklia project, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation is having discussions about providing financial support to it and there may also be financial support through the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development.

As for the issues concerning the shareholder bank, all I want to say at this point is that we are following these developments with attention because of its potential implications for Anaklia and also because the bank enjoys American ownership”, the Ambassador said.

According to him, the US wants Georgia to succeed and American investors in this country to succeed. He said that those two principles will determine whether and how they will act in the coming days.
