Number of arrivals of international non-resident travelers in Georgia increased by 9.8% y/y in 2018

The number of arrivals of international non-resident travelers in the territory of Georgia amounted to 8.7 million in 2018, 9.8 percent higher compared to the previous year, - the National Statistics Office (Geostat) told InterPressNews.

According to Geostat, 44.5 percent of the incomes were made by 31-50 years old travelers.

The number of visits by international visitors amounted to 7.2 million, 11.1 percent higher compared to 2017. In 2018 5.8 million international visitors were reported in Georgia, 12.4 percent higher compared to the previous year. International visitors have made 4.8 million tourist-type visits, 16.9 percent higher compared to the previous year.

66.7 percent of international visitors were tourists. The share of excursionists amounted to 27.4 percent, while 5.9 percent of visitors were both tourists and travelers.

The majority of visitors (46.3 percent) belonged to 31-50 years of age range. The number of women made up 39.7 percent of the total number of visitors.

In 2018, the average number of nights spent during the visits was 4.2 nights, 2 percent less than the figure indicated in 2017 (4.3 nights).

72.9 percent of visits was repeating visit. The chart below shows the distribution of visits by the level of satisfaction in 2018.
