Salome Zourabichvili: The other side’s consent is required in order France to act as a mediator with Russia

The other side’s consent is required in order France to act as a mediator with Russia, - President Salome Zourabichvili said in response to a Georgian journalist's question relating to the mediation of France in Georgia-Russia relations at a briefing held after the meeting with French President Emanuel Macron.

According to Zourabichvili, France is ready to remind Russia of its commitments.

"I think the other side’s consent is required in order France to act as a mediator with Russia, but I do not believe there is such a consent today. France constantly reiterates support for our sovereignty and territorial integrity and helps us in the non-recognition politics. Apart from making statements, France shows readiness to remind Russia of its obligations in any available format," Salome Zourabichvili said.
