Frank-Walter Steinmeier : Georgia has passed an impressive path of development

We observed the process of presidential elections in Georgia, the process was tough, but well administered and fair, - Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at the meeting with the President of Georgia.

Steinmeier hopes that political players will return to the format of cooperation, which will enable the country to implement important reforms.

“We talked about the internal politics of Georgia, we followed the presidential elections and we saw and even felt that the election process was tough, but we saw that the OSCE observation mission stated that these elections were professionally prepared, well-administered and held fairly. We hope and we are convinced that the strong polarization demonstrated in the electoral process will not continue, and the political players will return to the format of cooperation and dialogue, which will give you the opportunity to carry out reforms in Georgia. Georgia has passed an impressive path of development. I would be happy to see another stage of the development of your country, ”the German President said according to the Georgian version of Steinmeier's statement aired by Imedi TV.
