The register of persons convicted of sex crimes will be created at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The creation of such a list-register is defined by a special draft law on Combating Crime against Sexual Freedom and Sexual Inviolability. The government has already submitted the draft law to the Parliament.

According to the bill, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will process the personal data of convicts, while the rules of creation the list-register and the process of personal data processing will be defined by the order of the Interior Minister.

“The register aims to prevent the crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability and to simplify the identification of sex crimes,” reads the explanatory note of the draft law.
