Georgia was disintegrated in 2008 and the same happened in Ukraine in 2014, - French Defense Minister Florence Parly said in the Atlantic Council in Washington when talking about the European security.

According to the Georgian bureau of the Voice of America, the French Defense Minister said that Europe needs to analyze threats.

Parly also responded to US President Donald Trump's demand that NATO allies should spend 2 percent of their budget on defense. According to her, France will do its best together with Europeans to "undertake more responsibility".

"We have to do more for assistance and should not always wait for the United States," the Minister said in her speech.

The Minister also spoke about Moscow’s attempts to spread misinformation.

"Misinformation, as I was told, is a Russian word. We have to tackle it together ... sometimes democracy is at stake and we must defend it," - the Minister said.
