Interior Minister: Ministry of Internal Affairs principally controls everything that is happening in our streets

Georgian police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs principally control everything that is happening in our streets, including in the direction of crime, - Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia told reporters in Parliament on Friday.

According to the Interior Minister, there is decrease in serious crimes, but there are trends and offenses where there is the need for higher civil responsibility.

The Interior Minister said the lawmakers made political statement instead of a principal conversation aiming to solve problems.

“We received political statement. I would like to underline that the statistics of serious crimes are positive. Georgian police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs principally control everything that is happening in our streets, including in the direction of crime, but we acknowledge that we have some increase in the crimes such are robbery, domestic crime and etc. and this problem should be solved with involvement of the society,” Minister Gakharia said.
