The United Opposition has named former First Lady Sandra Roelofs as its mayoral candidate in Zugdidi city. One of the leaders of the United Opposition Grigol Vashadze stated about it at a news conference on Friday.

“The United Opposition has been consulting for two days about our participation in the by-elections, which is a general rehearsal of the next parliamentary elections. We have made one decision very rapidly : Mrs Sandra Roelofs will be the candidate of the United Opposition in Zugdidi …I would like to remind you that Mrs Sandra won the elections in Zugdidi and the election results were so falsified that she refused to enter the Parliament. So Zugdidi will be one of the main directions of our efforts and we are very satisfied that we will have a worthy candidate who loves Zugdidi and Samegrelo, "Grigol Vashadze said.
