It was noted at the UN Human Rights Council that Irakli Kvaratskhelia's death was a result of the occupation of Georgian territories by Russia, - Vladimir Konstantinidi, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.

According to him, the difficult situation in the occupied regions of Georgia was condemned by partners at the UN Human Rights Council session, where the Georgian side presented a resolution called “Cooperation with Georgia”.

"It was important that the UK, Lithuania and Estonia raised the issue of Irakli Kvaratskhelia’s death during the debates in the Council. It was noted at the UN Human Rights Council that Irakli Kvaratskhelia's death was a result of the occupation of Georgian territories by Russia," Vladimir Konstantinidi said.

Irakli Kvaratskhelia died at Nabakevi military base on March 12. According to the Abkhazian de facto authorities, he committed suicide.
