Irakli Sesiashvili: It is clear that we are close to NATO's door

It is clear that we are close to NATO's door, - Irakli Sesiashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Defense and Security, said when assessing the upcoming visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Georgia.

"It is clear that we are close to NATO's door. In my opinion, these are three main factors for this. One is that the international community, the NATO member states, now believe that Georgia is a stable and democratic country. Of course, Georgia has to do much more to turn this stability into a tradition, but everyone agrees that our tendency is absolutely correct.

The second factor is the unique reforms implemented in the field of defense and security, which has been confirmed by all NATO officials. I would like to emphasize the defense area, where we are holding unprecedented and high-quality exercises together with NATO.

The third factor is that our government has shown the international civil society that Georgia is a civilized player in both home and foreign affairs. Georgia takes into consideration both its national and international interests”, Sesiashvili said.

According to him, given all the above, it is not surprising that NATO Secretary General is arriving in Georgia for the third time.
