Ombudsman to deliver report to Parliament on April 18

Public Defender of Georgia Nino Lomjaria will report before the lawmakers on April 18. The Ombudsman will talk about the draft law on the criteria of selection and appointment of the Supreme Court judges.

MP Mamuka Mdinaradze, Chairman of the “Georgian Dream” fraction, told InterPressNews that the Parliament is ready to hear the Public Defender. MP Mdinaradze explains this is a procedural part that cannot be ignored by the lawmakers and this norm is included in the Constitution.

“This is a procedural part and we can not have a different position when the Public Defender demands to report to the Parliament. This requirement should be satisfied. This is a norm which is written in the Constitution, "said Mamuka Mdinaradze.
