Chief of President’s Administration comments on recent development around Davit Gareji Monastery

It is necessary the commission to resume its work timely in order to determine the boundaries between the two friendly countries and to avoid such artificial tensions in the future, Lasha Zhvania, the Chief of the President's Administration, said when commenting on the recent developments around Davit Gareji Monastery.

Lasha Zhvania emphasized the necessity of delimitation of the border to prevent similar problems in the future.

“The President has visited Davit Gareji together with the representatives of the monuments protection and "Europe Nostra". They have visited and observed our monastery complex. It is very regretful when such facts take place, especially when it coincides with the Easter holiday. These facts show that the issue of border delimitation between our countries is very important, and accordingly, it is necessary the commission to resume its work, according to the agreement reached between the Presidents of Georgia and our friend- Azerbaijan, in order to determine the boundaries between the two friendly countries and to avoid such artificial in the future", Lasha Zhvania said.
