It's a great honor for me to arrive in Georgia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Davit Zalkaliani.

Minister Wang Yi also noted that China respects Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"China is implementing foreign policy, which is based on the principles of peaceful coexistence. We are ready to further develop friendly relations between our countries. We have a firm position that all countries are equal, regardless of their size. We respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and other countries,” sad FM Wang Yi.

According to him, Georgia and China have friendly relations and there is no any problem between them.

"Shortly after Georgia declared its independence, China established diplomatic relations with Georgia and since then, our bilateral relations are growing smoothly. There is no any problem in relations between our countries. We are delighted when we see that countries are improving their standards and we hope that these countries will develop even greater potential.

We hope that Georgia will create a more favorable environment in relations with its neighboring countries, which will promote its development.

The last visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China to Georgia was held several years ago. To my mind, this visit, first of all, represents the expression of friendship. I hope this visit will help us to further develop a traditional friendship between our two countries and especially among our peoples. I also hope that this visit will open new perspectives and dimensions to develop bilateral relations.

This is a visit for hearing, because many years after the last visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China to Georgia, I consider that this visit is a possibility for me to learn how Georgia has used our relations and current developments in the world, which I think will improve our understanding.

This is the visit that will help us to learn new opportunities based on existing cooperation and find ways for development of mutual beneficial cooperation in compliance of the globalization. In particular, how to define new areas of co-operation, road initiatives, how to bring more benefits to our people and to promote peace and development in the South Caucasus, in the region and beyond it, how can we make a joint contribution, "said the Chinese Foreign Minister.
