Zakaria Kutsnashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, has apologized to the public. According to him, he understands people's fair concern about the fact that the Russian Deputy from the Communist Party, Sergei Gavrilov, presided over the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in the Parliament of Georgia.
"I understand that the society was irritated to see the Russian Deputy in the chair of the Speaker of Parliament of Georgia. I want to apologize to the public.
Probably, I should have more intensively worked in the international secretariat. When they put two chairs in the presidium, I realized that both of them would be sitting there and therefore, it was a technical matter who would preside over the session.
I understand the public concern about the fact that the Russian lawmaker chaired a session in the Parliament of Georgia and I apologize for this to the public," Zakaria Kutsnashvili said.
