Russian lawmaker says OSCE Parliamentary Assembly decision is attempt to continue conflict that began in Tbilisi

Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs. Andrei Klimov, who chairs Committee of the Protection of the State Sovereignty, said the decision of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Political Affairs and Security, which supported the resolution adopted by Georgia, might be the attempt to continue the conflict, which has begun in Tbilisi.

“Russia, as a sovereign state can recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, this is our right, which is envisaged in the UN Charter. This story is over for us. We have already taken our decision, " Andrei Klimov said in his interview with “Russia Today.”

He said that in order to regulate relations with the neighbors, the Georgian side must enter into dialogue with them.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Political Affairs and Security has adopted the draft resolution prepared by Georgia with 50 votes, against five.
