There is the work not only on viruses, but also on the vectors – on ticks and mosquitos - in the Lugar Laboratory,- member of the Russian State Duma Gennady Onishchenko said while commenting on the decision of the Committee on Political Affairs and Security of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which supported the resolution, prepared by Tbilisi on the recent situation in the occupied regions.

According to him, the microbiological laboratory, located in Georgia, is the real threat for the entire region.

“Of course, I agree the position that the militarization of the South Caucasus is a real threat today. But, unfortunately, the resolution does not even mentions the military-biological base, which is located 40 km away from Tbilisi. This Georgian laboratory is the real threat for human rights in Georgia and not only in this regard,” the former Chief Sanitary Inspector of Russia said.

Onishenko said that there is the work not only on viruses, but also on the vectors – on ticks and mosquitos.

“There is the threat of incident in the laboratory - failure of ventilation, insufficient work of filters, or just falling a laboratory employee ill, "said the former chief sanitarian.
