Donald Tusk: Let's not hide the fact that there are many people in the EU who doubt expansion

Your EU membership is not the only question, but let's not hide the fact that this question still remains on the agenda - there are many people in the EU who doubt this expansion, - President of the European Union Donald Tusk said at the international conference in Batumi.

Donald Tusk added that he himself does not have such doubts. However, despite that, he said Georgia had security problems.

"The Eastern Partnership was created and is being developed in a very difficult political context: be it in the EU or in the region. We know that there are very serious security problems and challenges in partner countries. I would call Georgia a country facing a big challenge of security.

Although the Eastern Partnership was not established as a mechanism for conflict resolution, it has its values. With these values, it tries to establish stability in the country and strengthen its resistance to various challenges and problems. The Eastern Partnership was the initiator of peace and has never been hostile to any country. On the contrary, its goal was to establish the rule of law, proper justice and organized systems in its countries. There are many questions about the future of the Eastern Partnership. Your EU membership is not the only question, but let's not hide the fact that this question still remains on the agenda - there are many people in the EU who doubt this expansion. I do not have such doubts," Donald Tusk said.
