CoE Secretary General arrives in Georgia

Secretary General of the CoE Marija Pejčinović Burić has arrived in Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The MFA said the airport welcoming ceremony in Tbilisi for Marija Pejčinović Burić was attended by Irakli Giviashvili, Georgia’s Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, and the Foreign Ministry officials.

Marija Pejčinović Burić has arrived in Georgia today in connection with Georgia’s upcoming chairmanship.

Within the framework of the visit, Secretary General of the CoE will hold official meetings with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze.

Georgia will take over the chairmanship of Council of Europe’s (CoE) Committee of Ministers for a six-month term starting November 27.
