Parliament’s bureau sitting delayed as protesters keep blocking building entrances

The sitting of the Parliament’s bureau has delayed as the protesters keep blocking all the entrances of the building.

The meeting was announced to start at 3:00pm, but the members of the ruling party did not arrive in the parliament, so the session has not started.

Only three lawmakers - Revaz Arveladze, Merab Qvaraia and Gia Zhorzholiani - arrived at the legislative body this morning, but the protesters did not allow them to enter the building.

The protesters at the rally outside the parliament are protesting the ruling Georgian Dream party’s failure to pass promised constitutional amendment that would switch Georgia to fully proportional electoral system from 2020, instead of 2024. The protesters have blocked all the entrances of the Parliament’s building.
