Giorgi Gakharia, Vladimir Zelensky sign agreement on establishing high-level strategic council of Georgia and Ukraine

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, - the Prime Minister's press office reports.

During the face-to-face meeting, the leaders discussed the common European perspective of the two countries and the challenges related to territorial integrity.

“The meeting highlighted the friendly relations between the Georgian and Ukrainian peoples, which should bring specific results for both countries.

Prime Minister Gakharia and President Zelenski discussed further deepening of future cooperation focused on overcoming common security challenges and success of the two countries' Euro-Atlantic integration.

After the face-to-face meeting, an expanded meeting was held at the Ukrainian President's Administration, which was attended by Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani and Prime Minister's Advisor for International Affairs Irakli Chikovani.

After the meeting, Giorgi Gakharia and Vladimir Zelenski signed an agreement on the establishment of a high-level strategic council of Georgia and Ukraine. The activities of the Strategic Council include four main areas - political, trade-economic, defense-security and cultural-humanitarian. The working groups set up in each direction will be led by the relevant ministers, ensuring a high level of comprehensive bilateral dialogue.

The leaders of the two countries noted that the signing of such an agreement at the highest level once again underscores the readiness of the two states to advance the relations to the higher level," reads the statement.
