Giorgi Margvelashvili: The political roundtable around the idea of better elections should be maintained until the goals are not met

The political roundtable united around the idea of better elections and release of political prisoners should be maintained until the goals are not met, Georgia's ex-President Giorgi Margvelashvili told reporters.

According to him, he intends to cooperate with the opposition on the above issue.

“I have intensive communication with both interest groups and political parties. I am getting information about their visions and strategies. I would like to emphasize that the political roundtable united around the idea of better elections and release of political prisoners should be maintained until the goals are not met. At this stage, this roundtable determines political agenda and priorities of Georgia's democratic development. Outside this table, I do not see the real political dynamics, in which anyone should be seriously involved. I still think that this table should be strengthened and I have consultations with its subjects.

My interest is to conduct democratic, free elections in Georgia, the basic principle of which is that every party gets what it deserves, no more or less. Democracy cannot be achived as a result of stealing of votes. This is the main purpose of this roundtable and I therefore support this thematic union. I am going to cooperate with them on this issue,” Margvelashvili said.
