PM: All kinds of talks about the release of Mr. Rurua are direct interference with the Georgian justice system

I have not changed my position, I have said once that all kinds of talks about the release of Mr. Rurua are direct interference with the Georgian justice system, which is categorically unacceptable to me, - Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told reporters.

According to him, the constitutional changes are extremely important for the future of the country and this will be a direct test of who will make the right decision relating to the fundamental issues of the country's political system.

"I do not think that the government is in a political deadlock. We have an absolutely clear position, I have not changed my position. First, I have once said that all kinds of talks about the release of Mr. Rurua are direct interference with the Georgian justice system, which is categorically unacceptable to me. Second, the constitutional changes, which are directly related to the electoral system, are extremely important changes for the future of this country. I really think that proportional elections are a qualitative change in the Georgian political system, which will allow the development of political culture in such a way that the elites will change not only in politics, but also in other areas of the country, in other areas of life. The proportional system will allow more young people to engage in politics and this is critically important to me.

This will be a direct test about who will make the right decision relating to the fundamental issue for the country's political system. This is a qualitative change, this is a change that the Georgian political youth has been fighting for since the 1990s. Finally, we have this chance, while speculations, especially about the steps that may damage the Georgian justice system, I repeat, are categorically acceptable to me,"- said the Prime Minister.
