PM: MFA has already started working on "green corridors" with certain countries

PM Giorgi Gakharia has commented on the EU's decision to include Georgian in the list of safe and green countries. As PM stated, it's a great opportunity for Georgia and it should be taken advantage of reasonably and cautiously.

"The European Union has confirmed that Georgia is a safe country in terms of COVID-19 spread. This is a result of intensive works which have been carried out in the last 5 months. it's a great opportunity for Georgia and it should be taken advantage of reasonably and cautiously - in order to avoid virus spread. This is the prism in which we should look at the acknowledgment and appraisal that the EU showed towards us. We should thank them for the objective assessment of the works of the Georgian government in the last few months. It's very important that the MFA has already started working on "green corridors" with certain countries", - stated Gakharia.

For the record, the EU will gradually start to open its borders to following countries: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, China (subject to confirmation of reciprocity).
