Archil Talakvadze says 2020 parliamentary elections are not in danger

According to the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Archil Talakvadze, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 parliamentary elections are not in danger.

As Talakvadze told journalists, the elections will be held in a free, safe and democratic environment

"At this moment, Georgia remains a country with green status in the 'green zone'. This means that the spread of the virus is under the control of the Georgian government and health services. Mass testing and medical assistance are provided to all who need the above. Today, elections or the pre-election campaign are not in danger. No restrictions are imposed in this regard. If we need to take any measures to protect the safety of our citizens, of course, the Council under the leadership of the Prime Minister will make such a decision. I want to assure you that the elections will not be hampered by this process and the elections are not in any danger at this moment. Elections will be held in a free, safe and democratic environment," Talakvadze said.
