Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia addressed the EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, with an initiative to equalize the tuition fees of Georgian students in Europe with those of students from EU member states.

At the meeting, which was held at the European Commission as part of the Prime Minister's official visit to Brussels, it was noted that education is one of the areas where Georgia's cooperation with the EU has one of the most tangible results by participating in relevant EU programs. Among them are "Erasmus +", "Horizon 2020", in which the country already participates and which brings Georgia closer to the EU in education domain.

The parties discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the field science and innovation, students, as well as the prospect of Kutaisi University joining the EU Universities Infrastructure. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani, the Head of the Georgian Mission to the European Union, Nata Sabanadze and the Head of the Government Administration, Natia Mezvrishvili.
