Irakli Gharibashvili: The infection rate has practically doubled in the last two weeks, this is a direct result of several days of irresponsible protests

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili has linked the recent rise in the number of coronavirus cases to protests in the country.

As Gharibashvili said at today's government meeting, the infection rate has doubled since the rallies. The Prime Minister called on the population to be careful.

"We are closely monitoring the dynamics in recent days. The infection rate has practically doubled in the last two weeks. This is a direct result of several days of irresponsible protests. We, of course, call on the population to be careful and cautious regarding our activities in any gathering," - said the Prime Minister.
