Georgia Marks Independence Day today

Georgia marks Independence Day on 26 May. Solemn events will be held in Tbilisi and Georgia in 26 towns of Georgia. Military oath taking ceremony will be held at 12:00 on Freedom Square.

Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania, Chief of Joint Staff, Colonel Irakli Dzneladze, Senior Sergeant of Georgian armed forces Aluda Kopaliani will attend the event. Honor guard will march on Liberty square from 12:30 till 13:00.

Oath taking ceremony will take place at 12:40 in Kutaisi, in front of parliament of Georgia. Deputy Minister of Defense Levan Dolidze and Deputy Chief of Joint Staff, General of the brigade Vakhtang Kapanadze will congratulate new members on joining the armed forces.

Exhibition of ammunition and armament of Georgian armed forces will be arranged from 10:00 till 16:00 in 11 towns of Georgia: Tbilisi (Rose square, Gldani Park, Varketili in front of police station), Telavi, Gori, Rustavi, Ozurgeti, Kutaisi Batumi, Mestia, Ambrolauri, Ak

haltsikhe, Sachkhere and Senaki.

Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania will open exhibition of Georgian weapons at 14:00 at the national museum of Georgia.

Georgia declared independence on 26 May 1918. Marking the Independence Day will be finished with fireworks.

Prime Minister of Georgia will make televised address at 12:00 to congratulate citizens of Georgia on Independence Day.
