Johannes Hahn: Progress has been made in terms of implementation of reforms related to the Association Agreement

The report on the implementation of the Association Agreement by Georgia indicates that progress has been made in terms of implementation of reforms related to the Association Agreement, - Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, said at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

"This report also indicates positive relations between the EU and Georgia. Our relationship is close. The EU is Georgia's largest trading partner. The EU-Georgia close relations will be proved by the high level meeting between members of the European Commission and the Government of Georgia in Brussels on 21 November. The meeting will discuss future cooperation issues.

At the same time, reform efforts should be strengthened in areas, such as law enforcement agencies and justice. We also work to improve the supervisory function of the Parliament of Georgia. Further reforms are needed in the field of justice. We will extend our support for trade justice, which is an area where Georgia should implement reforms. Protection of human rights and taking anti-discrimination measures remain to be challenges. We will also remain committed to the non-recognition in relation to the separatist regions of Georgia, "the European Commissioner said.
