Court orders diocesan bishop to make public apologize to lawyer

Tbilisi City Court has satisfied the lawsuit of lawyer Mikheil Ramishvili, who asked the court to order diocesan bishop Iakob to make a public apologize for insulting his business reputation.

Mikheil Ramishvili told InterPressNews that upon the decision of judge Irakli Kopaliani, diocesan bishop Iakob was ordered to make a public apologize to Mikheil Ramishvili for insulting his business reputation and awarded a symbolic amount – GEL 1 in non-pecuniary damages.

“Diocesan bishop Iakob told Iberia TV as if I was an informer of bishop Petre, an agent in the case of Giorgi Mamaladze and Sandro Girgvliani and as if I used to provide Data Akhalaia with information. The judge considered it as defamation and ordered the diocesan bishop to make a public apologize. As for in non-pecuniary damages, I asked the symbolic amount – GEL 1 as dignity and honor are unvalued,” Mikheil Ramishvili said.
