Former presidential candidate thinks president’s residence should be relocated to Kutaisi

Zurab Japaridze, one of the leaders of “Girchi” party and former presidential candidate, considers that the president’s residence should be relocated to Kutaisi city.

"We think that Avlabari Palace should be sold. In my opinion, the president's palace should be mot in Tbilisi but in Kutaisi, " Zurab Japaridze said at a briefing held in Kutaisi.

He said the “Girchi” party does not plan to join the protest rally planned by the opposition in Telavi on the day of inauguration of President-elect Salome Zurabishvili.

"Our political party does not join this rally. The opposition has the freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly. I hope the opposition does not aim to cause some confrontation, "said Japaridze.
