Prime Minister: 35 years ago, Georgians marched on Rustaveli with the slogan of sovereignty, it is a paradox that rallies are held on the same avenue with the slogan of not strengthening sovereignty

35 years ago, Georgians marched on Rustaveli Avenue with the slogan of sovereignty. They demanded sovereignty, independence from the Soviet system. Today, it is just a paradox that rallies are held on the same Rustaveli Avenue with the slogan of not strengthening sovereignty, - said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, at the press conference held in the government administration.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, today a part of the public is being brought to rallies and demanding that "we don't want state sovereignty, we don't want to know who spends money on what".

"We cannot allow anyone to give you instructions without arguments. I say this emphatically as the head of the Government of Georgia. Our parents' generation fought against this in the 80s, and we will fight for dignity and independence until the end, even more so today, when we represent a free and independent state. 35 years ago, Georgians marched on Rustaveli Avenue with the slogan of sovereignty. They demanded sovereignty, independence from the Soviet system. Today, it is just a paradox that rallies are held on the same Rustaveli Avenue with the slogan of not strengthening sovereignty - "We don't want state sovereignty, we don't want to know who spends money on what".

Imagine the paradox, they bring a part of society to Rustaveli and demand that "we don't want to have information about who spends money on what, I don't want it, I want to close my eyes, I don't want this information". Imagine the level of paradox and absurdity of all this. The only thing that this law envisages, I will repeat once again, is that the citizen of Georgia must receive information about spending money. They bring out a part of society and make a demand that "I don't want to know information about money, I don't want sovereignty to be solid, I want someone here to try once again to organize a revolution with their own opaque financing." It's a paradox, but it's a fact," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
