Irakli Kobakhidze: Non-transparent NGOs have tried to organize a revolution twice in this country

Non-transparent NGOs have tried to organize a revolution twice in this country, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters when he spoke about the draft law on "transparency of foreign influence".

In the context of the said bill, Kobakhidze also spoke about the country's economic situation and noted that transparency is also an important condition for speeding up economic progress.

"Actually, in the conditions of non-transparency, the activities of NGOs seriously hindered the progress of the country, and we remind you what the results of their activities were. It was an attempt at two revolutions. In 2020-21 and also in 2022, they had two revolution attempts. Such events, of course, hinder the development of the economy. Let's remind you, in 2020, they falsified Parallel Vote Tabulation, which was then used by the opposition. It was a pre-planned scenario to organize a revolution. In 2021, they tried it all. They wanted to achieve extraordinary elections, which they failed to do. After that, in 2020, when we were not given the candidate status, these NGOs directly went on stage and demanded the resignation of the government. It was already an attempt to implement their revolutionary scenario directly on the stage. Non-transparent NGOs have tried to organize a revolution twice in this country. If their financing were transparent, there would have had less chance to openly engage in revolutionary processes, which, of course, always has a negative impact on the development of the country's economy. Of course, transparency is also an important condition for us to speed up economic progress," the Prime Minister noted.
