Prime Minister: I give you my word, no more was said at any closed meeting than what is said in public - if we do not protect state sovereignty, what happened to Ukraine will happen to us, peace and European integration will be left behind

I give you my word that no more was said in any closed meeting than is said in public. If they have arguments against the law, why don't they announce it publicly? - this is how Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze answered the journalist's question about whether EU representatives indicate to the Georgian government not to adopt the law during closed meetings.

As the Prime Minister stated at the briefing, if the Georgian government was not sure that the draft law "On transparency of foreign influence" would not interfere with Georgia's European integration, they would not have accepted it."I give you my word that no more was said in any closed meeting than what is said in public. If they have arguments against the law, why don't they announce it publicly? The law provides for only one thing and that is declarations. Arguments in this regard simply cannot exist.

If we were not sure that this law would not hinder the European integration, of course we would not accept it. We know that the law will not create a threat to European integration, but on the contrary, it will only ensure it. If we don't protect state sovereignty, what happened to Ukraine will happen to us - peace and European integration will be left behind," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
