Dmitry Peskov: there was no need to call the bill Russian - these impulses, of course, come from outside, we understand it perfectly

The draft law "On transparency of foreign influence" in Georgia cannot be connected with Russia's influence. Dmitry Peskov, the press spokesman of the Russian President, announced this in a conversation with journalists.

"There was no need to call this bill Russian. The thing is, in the end, perhaps the United States of America, which came up with FARA, started taking care of its own domestic political hygiene. It was they who introduced this practice. Therefore, this is not a Russian [practice], it is a normal practice for many states, which do everything to protect themselves from external influence - from foreign influence on domestic politics," said Peskov.

According to him, all countries take measures in one form or another, but all draft laws serve one purpose.

"They are trying to use this internal political process as a tool to provoke anti-Russian sentiments - it is doubtful that these impulses come from within Georgia. Of course they come from outside, we understand that perfectly. And we are observing what is happening", said Peskov.
