6 654 penalties were imposed for driving uninspected car in January 14-18 since “smart cameras” involved in process

From January 14 through January 17, since the “smart cameras” were involved in the process of detecting the vehicles that have not undergone a technical inspection, a total of 6 654 penalties were imposed, - Beka Liluashvili, Head of the Analytics and Reforms Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has told InterPressNews.

He said the number of the imposed fines significantly increased after the technical inspection of vehicles are checked by “smart cameras”. Beka Liluashvili explained that from January 1 through January 14, before the “smart cameras” were involved in the process, patrol police crews fined 2404 citizens, while a total of 6 654 penalties were imposed during four days after the “smart cameras” were involved in the process of detecting the vehicles.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of the vehicle owners, who addressed the periodic technical inspection centers for undergoing the technical inspection, has increased several times since technical inspection of vehicles are checked by the “smart cameras”.

Driving an uninspected car is a violation that results in a 50 GEL fine. Moreover, transfer or disposal of a vehicle which has not gone through a periodic technical inspection is the subject to a fine to the amount of 50 GEL, and legal entities or individual entrepreneurs are fined 200 GEL.
