An official delegation of Syrian lawmakers will visit Georgia’s occupied Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia in April of 2019, - Petre Gassiev, de-facto chairman of Parliament of Tskhinvali region, has said.

"The Syrian Arab Republic has received our invitation with great pleasure and they will visit the Republic of South Ossetia in April of this year. This will be the first visit of the official delegation from Syria and within the frameworks of the visit an agreement on cooperation between the South Ossetian and Syrian parliaments will be signed, "- said Gassiev.

On October 9 of 2018, the Parliament of Syria ratified so-called agreement on friendship and cooperation with occupied Tskhinvali region. Syria recognized so-called “independence” of occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions on May 19 and established so-called diplomatic relations with them.
