State flags to be flying at half-staff in connection with the Day of Soviet Occupation

State flags will be flying at half-staff in the buildings of state agencies today in connection with the Day of Soviet Occupation to honor the hundreds of thousands of victims of the occupation, the Parliament of Georgia reports.

On the basis of the 21 July 2010 resolution of the Parliament of Georgia, 25 February was declared as the Day of Soviet Occupation.

On February 25, 1921, the Russian Red Army occupied Tbilisi and toppled the government elected through universal and free elections, resulting in annexation of the subject of international law - the Democratic Republic of Georgia.
