State Security Service: Detainees were planning to sell Uranium for 2 800 000 US dollars

The State Security Service arrested two persons on charges of illicit treatment and sale of nuclear material.

As investigator Savle Motiashvili said at the briefing at the Ministry, the Counterintelligence Department of the State Security Service arrested two persons in Kobuleti.

The investigation found that these individuals were going to sell the nuclear material Uranium for 2 800 000 US dollars. The seized substance is hazardous for human life and health.

The investigation is ongoing into illicit treatment and possession of nuclear material (paragraph 1 of Article 230, the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 10 years).
