Ross Wilson: The kidnapping of Irakli Kvaratskhelia looks like a gross violation of human rights

The kidnapping of Irakli Kvaratskhelia, who either committed suicide or died under suspicious circumstances in custody, looks like a gross violation of human rights, - Ross Wilson, acting ambassador of the US to Georgia, told reporters.

According to him, the behavior of Russia and the occupation authorities is aimed at undermining and weakening Georgia, which is acceptable. The diplomat added that the specifics of the case remain to be determined.

“We have noticed an apparent increase in these kinds of incidents in the recent days, which gives rise to concerns about what actually is going on. We want to see calm. We also want to see these kinds of incidents stopped and properly investigated”, the acting ambassador said.
