US Consul: We are expecting the execution of justice for the Smiths’ family

Today we are expecting only one thing – execution of justice for the Smiths’ family, - US Consul in Georgia Janet Reber told journalists in the Gori District Court.

The Consul is attending the trial of Malkhaz Kobauri, who stands accused of killing three members of the Smiths’ family in the Khada Gorge.

"These three lovely people were born in America, but they chose to be Georgians. They loved this country. I want to thank the Georgian people for support and the Government of Georgia for conducting an investigation," Reber said.

Kobauri’s family members are also in Gori District Court, but they have not made comments for journalists.

Malkhaz Kobauri faces a prison term from 16 to 20 years if convicted.
