Irakli Kobakhidze intends to take just one or two recommendations [of the Venice Commission] into account and not to make a lot of changes, Anna Dolidze, the non-judge of the Supreme Council of Justice, told reporters on Wednesday after the meeting with the Chairman of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to her, the Parliament Speaker has a “formal attitude” towards the Venice Commission.
“It was expected that the Parliamentary Chairman would have a formal attitude towards such an authoritative international body. Instead of a lot of changes, Kobakhidze intends to take into account one or two changes, and of course, it will not make the process democratic. This will bring a very bad result and will affect reputation. The Venice Commission is our partner and such a rude attitude towards it, putting its recommendations aside, will seriously affect reputation of our state,” said Anna Dolidze.
